  7.     Politicians, listen up! If you're worried about getting the
  8. vote out, call Kathie Lee Gifford. The effervescent talk-show
  9. host was so determined to win TV Guide's Most Beautiful Woman
  10. on TV phone-in poll that she pleaded with viewers for five days
  11. to vote for her. It worked. Last week Gifford, 37, crushed
  12. runner-up Jaclyn Smith, 17,796 votes to 3,603. Some opponents
  13. complained, but Gifford stands by her actions. Says she: "I
  14. didn't do anything illegal." Score one for the American way.
